Our return to Indonesia begins with five nights at alamBatu Beach Bungalow Resort in the northeast area of Bali (Kubu, Karangasem Regency). We visited alamBatu for the first time in February 2023, and everyone loved it! People were asking me when are we coming back two days into the trip. It is an amazing mix of beauty, serenity, culture, yumminess, and phenomenal service and hospitality. The diving is easy with most boat rides being less than seven minutes. The diversity or marine life found amongst the scattered reef and black sand muck diving is astounding. The critter hunting is mind blowing: nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs, cuttlefish, octopus, seahorses, and a plethora of alien looking species I am still trying to believe are real.
When not diving, lounge by the beautiful pool overlooking the ocean. Or relax in one of the many covered palapas enjoying your latest book or catch a nap. Don't feel like sitting around? Choose from one of the many tours offered and experience the culture of Bali from temples, to markets, to waterfall hikes and more. If none of that does it for you, treat yourself to a body rejuvenation at the resort's stunning, serene spa. Better yet, enjoy it all during your five days. It's all included!
After our time in Bali, we will be picked up by our home for the next 11 nights, the MV Pindito. That's right. Our liveabaord is picking us up right in front of the resort, and we begin our journey to one of Indonesia's, perhaps the world's, best diving: Komodo National Park. Bring on the dragons!

Monday morning, September 8, 2025. You wake up to the soothing sounds of roosters crowing. You do your morning stretches and yoga or just walk your way down to the dining area where made to order Balinese coffee, fresh fruit, and a delicious breakfast await. You reflect back on the incredible few days you've experienced in Bali. Maybe you go for a morning dive, maybe you don't. At some it hits you like a ton of nudibranchs: I've just enjoyed the most amazing five days. Now, I am boarding the MV Pindito and venturing to Komodo National Park. My trip is not even a third of the way done. Did Rami say we are going to see dragons! (I did 😉)
In 2023 we joined the crew of the Pinidto for the first time as we explored the thriving waters of Raja Ampat. Two and half years later, here we are on our fourth trip to Indonesia and diving with the amazing crew of the Pindito. The diving in Raja was extraordinary, yet we kept hearing how Komodo can be even more!
Between diving healthy reefs, black sand slopes, white sand muck dives, and volcanic islands, you will enjoy a mix of big and small marine life. Komodo is well known for its large schools of fish, vibrant reefs, manta rays, frogfish, seahorses, nudibranchs, octopus, cuttlefish, and so much more. The diving is for experienced divers as there can be strong currents and cooler waters in some areas.
